Student Leadership

Picture
Student led meetings with elected officers: For the students to feel integral to the course sequence they will develop a leadership committee.  The elected students will plan a variety of team building activities to increase the cohesiveness of the program.  Additionally, elected students will lead class discussions and help to plan project based assignments.
As an instructional content area students are to collaborate and create a web design for a community member.  This project will be completed through all stages with a member of the community.  This will provide real and practical experience for the students to interact in a professional capacity.  The project will be divided so that each student will have an area of responsibility and direct input to the success of the project.

To become connected to the community students should have an awareness of the needs and struggles outside of their educational setting.  A service learning component will be added to the requirements of the successful completion of the course.  Students will decide on a worthwhile cause for them to direct their skills and abilities.
